2007-08 Atlanta Falcons

Micheal Vick is now known for being the first player to be banned from the NFL. It's a sad way to be remembered, and now a question mark lies ahead for ATL. Can Joey Harrington fill in properly - in spite of being sacked by Detroit, and his terrible passing game? Can The Falcons handle a very competitive AFC South - in fact, can they even be contenders with Harrington at the helm? It seems that despite his talent, Vick has jeopardized not only his carreer, but the chances of his team ever winning the division. Falcons ticketbuyers hold on to the hope that their team can bounce back, but it's unlikely.

Previous Seasons

Atlanta Falcons tickets scored a near miss in 2005-06. After the Atlanta Falcons’ appearance in the NFC Championship in 2004, this year’s squad was expected to be a Super Bowl contender. However, the 2005-2006 team failed to live up to these expectations, missing the playoffs because of a miserable second half of the season. While many fans around the league believe that quarterback Michael Vick is one the National Football League’s best young players, the quarterback’s average passing statistics have caused much of the media to question his ability to lead the team.

While the Falcons have been a part of the NFL since 1966, the team has yet to deliver two consecutive winning seasons. The team suffered through its first 12 seasons without a trip to the postseason before enjoying some moderate success near the end of the 1970s and beginning of the 1980s. After an appearance in the playoffs in 1982, the Falcons continued throughout the rest of the decade with little hope of winning before one of the greatest blunders in franchise history. In 1991, the team traded quarterback Brett Favre to the Green Bay Packers where the quarterback became one of the league’s best players.

1998 proved to be the team’s best year when head coach Dan Reeves led the team to its only Super Bowl. With quarterback Chris Chandler and wide receivers Tony Martin and Terance Mathis, the Falcons had one of the NFL’s best passing attacks. Running back Jamal Anderson made the team equally as difficult to defend on the ground with over 1,800 rushing yards. However, the offense was not enough to compete with John Elway’s Denver Broncos, and the Falcons lost the championship game. After one more trip to the postseason in 2002, Reeves left the team during a season ruined by Vick’s absence. The Falcons replaced him with Jim L. Mora who guided the team to a first place finish in the NFC South. However, the team’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles supplied fans at the Georgia Dome with more frustration.

While Vick’s incredible rushing ability increases the value of Falcons football tickets, the young quarterback must develop his passing ability in order for the team to capitalize on the presence of young wide receiver Roddy White. Mora will use the off-season to devise a plan that will lift the franchise to the forefront of competition in the NFC. If Vick can stay healthy and improve his playmaking ability, the Falcons will be able to return to the team’s second Super Bowl in the near future. It seems a likely event, given the talent of Michael Vick, and the pedigree of head coach Mora. While the Falcons didn’t reach the level of success they hoped to in the 2005-06 NFL season, most football fans would agree that the Falcons are just a hair away, and with Michael Vick on the field, Atlanta Falcons tickets are one of the most exciting NFL tickets around.
